Three-lined minimalism. On Perception.

Mirage

I perceived perception
winding up in a delusion
as my eye tricked my mind

A honorary fatwa to bless Hissa Hilal et al.

Write out a fatwa
against imams and mullahs
who suppress women

Let it voice "no more
suffocation of women
free our better half"

Let the fatwa say
"the learned must preach and teach
the illiterate

All are born even
Men and women equal rights
no more violence

She is your heart and
it is she who gives you life
you can not be more

Entomb your demons
she is free and she is pure
men hold back your fear"

Let this edict grant
freedom to poetesses
may they rule freely

Prompt: "….honoring the (veiled) Saudi Arabian Poetess Hissa Hillal who courageously broached the subject of anti-women extremist forces….".

Don't let anyone make the mistake of thinking that this is limited to certain imams and mullahs and/or illiterates, this problem exists -to a greater or lesser extent- within all religious movements and all parts of every -male dominated- society, be it eastern or western.

The last residents

2121-12-12

On Earth
or Mars
Not one

So this is how you do it

Lock out, stigmatize,
your fellow human beings
to secure your wealth*

* or any other invented superiority

….a haiku on what some of us have learned and perfected through the ages….

So I chose to lock myself out
and
ended my career
and
ignored society
and
in that I stigmatized you all
for that I apologize
to the few
….

Two beaches just outside Europe

Two beaches just outside Europe.

First cameo.

The sad man walked / with in his arms / a drowned little boy / over the salty beach / and laid the toddler / softly where sand meets sea / calmly following the Mediterranean tide

Briefly he muttered mournful / a loving prayer for him / the dead little child / then he stepped aside / for the professional photographer / to take his flashy image

It was a poignant way / to break those walls / of that fortress Europe / would a dead child / finally raise some compassion / however staged the shoot / would it soften hearts

Second cameo.

The children were playing / soccer along side the sea / they looked happy carefree / the watchman through binoculars / scrutinized along the fences / on the Gaza border

The young Palestinian players / barefoot on the sand / tried to extend their game / happy for the moment / dreading the evening home / hungry in battered houses

The soldier on the watchtower / smiled sadly at the ball / that crossed the border / he would have loved / to kick it back / but for the landmines / they would not permit

Fade out.

The Lady From Magdala

His hand gently touched
his brow, his lips and his heart
when first he saw her

Puzzled her eyes
sought
questioningly
maybe
even
just

little
provocatively
his
true
bright
with love

From then on they travelled together….
