Another War Child

Like a child looks at its parents
As a chess piece on the board
By the hand of the player
Neatly manipulated

Just as a child regards the parent
Who abuses it in the struggle
For dominance in the marriage
Deadly hurt

How a child gazes at the betrayal
Of the reliance back and forth
Angry, silent and subdued
Unprotected against tears

Like a child looks at its parents
Who dress it in dynamite
For glory of their pride
He stands bare in front of you

Just as this child looks at those children
With sorrow and with compassion
Full of recognition of their pain
I await them all at his feet
