The Boy Named Tamás

The young boy
in our street
is a lonely child
He is loved
by his mother
and his granny
But he is alone
has no friends
He rides fast
a child's scooter
Three hundred yards
to the left
and back again
Never to the right
where the dogs bark
He looks like a shy boy
but friendly
He does not realize
that the wheels
of his little scooter
on the pavement
can be heard
inside the house
Would the boy change
his route if he knew
Could he change
his lonely rythm
on two tiny wheels
Or would that leave
him even more lonely
A boy in solitude
roling 300 yards
to the left
And I could never
ask
him to stop....
