The primeval forest was cleansed
for centuries by these colonies
of red and black ants
But now from overseas came settlers
to clear large parts of woods
to start a life and a home
It had always been a fine day
a good day for a family
to found a town
And a close family they were
crossing boundaries and
waging war at frontiers
They made and changed history
the narrative of a continent
through latin lovers eyes
While they fought wars for freedom
of choice and having no limits
not even those of family
Eventually -as for all human in time-
their grand evolution decayed
leaving it to ants to cleanse
Poem inspired by the 1967 novel: One hundred years of solitude - Gabriel Garcia Márquez.
